Yay!

We got some of that powdery goodness called snow today! It was so beautiful and soft and light, I practically only had to blow to get the snow off my car.

School was cancelled today due to the 2 inch downfall. Please, northerners, no heckling please! I understand that some of you have had feet of snow fall and it is business as usual. And to think most of the snow melted off the road by 2 pm. And that there is not snow predicted for tomorrow.

We took advantage and got outside first thing in the morning, the boys jumping into the not so large pile of snow I made from shovelling and made snow angels and snow balls and very very small pudgy snowmen.

We spent the afternoon under the covers in my bedroom, all four of us, watching Disney movies, eating leftover pizza and peppermint bark, and singing the disney tunes. I think I read Gregory's book of trains 5 times today. Cooper led a discussion on why it's important to eat dessert. I talked to my Greg, my Mother and Best Friend on the phone, and I knit.

It has been a good day.

The Great Escape

Dont' Do it Mr. German Nutcracker!

See, it's not just me trying to stall this Christmas cleanup. I found this little one trying to escape the peril of dark and dusty until November. Poor Guy, he's been with us the last nine years and I think he is tired of being thrown in with the newbie lights and fake green wreaths.

Auf Weiderdehen Herr Nutcracker...

(back to work, thanks for humoring me)

Jumping back in, needles first.

Happy New Year!

The entire family greeted 2007, glued to the TV watching Carson Daly (how the heck did he get so popular, wasn't he just on TRL?) , me a little full and happy with some wine shared with Greg. This morning we were all just a tad bit grumpy from the lack of sleep.

Except this girl that is:

She was ready to go, full speed all day. To be an 18 month old!

I started on the Sewingmamas Wristwarmers Knitalong, after deciding that I am going to give my other hobbies a good effort this year, among others as part of my resolutions this year. I chose a fairly beginner pattern in hopes that I can finish it and either use or gift it.

I'm using some hand dyed Lindon Merino by Sharon, yummy stuff, and the greys are just perfect.

We had an awesome Christmas! My most relaxing to note thus far, because
1. I gave myself time off from working the business and
2. Giftgiving was ultra special this year, working with so many talented mothers, WAHMs and Designers, that all of the presents I gave were so personal, and definitely heartfelt.

Here's to a great and relaxing first of the year! I hope that you had a wonderful festive holiday.

9 years, and counting...

Then:

Wedding

and Now:

2006

...and we are still each other's best friends and most honest critic. And instead of getting up to meet to get breakfast at the University cafeteria, we now meet in our kitchen for coffee early in the morning...

Happy Anniversary Babe.

I am thankful for

100_1109
a house full of noisy children,
a kitchen brimming with meals,
a husband clamoring to always spend his moments with me,
a business that keeps my fingers moving through the night,
a job that lets me be a mother by being with mothers,
an extended family that is nurturing and supportive,
unbelievable friendships that span miles and years,
God, who continues to show me goodness in our tumultuous politics.

I hope everyone had a great Holiday.

Much love,
Tif

My skeletons that were in the closet

are now out!

Halloween gets better and better every year.

We ventured in our town home neighborhood and the kids took home almost half a pillowcase EACH. Cooper was dragging his pillowcase by the time we turned the corner to come home.

Our neighborhood is hands down one of the best there is in this area. Wonderfully festive with lots of families.

This years costumes were really a breeze...I already had patterns from Ottobre for jammies for all three sizes and I had some polyester knit from last year's batman costumes, so the boys had theirs in a jiffy. I used purple cotton knit for Rafaella, it was so thick - almost sweatshirt thick, perfect for the weather.

The bones were applique using some white fleece I had stashed away.

Skeletons!

Do you see the expressions on their faces? Totally classic for each of their personlities.

I couldn't help but get one of the baby

Purple Skeleton

Off to somehow stash away the evil sugar that is now in my house! I am tempted by the SECOND!

Weddings

They always make me cry somehow.

One of my girlfriends, M, got married this weekend. She has one of those relaxing easy personalities, and we have managed to remain friends despite the distance that 8 years of Army miles has provided us. She and I finally live in the same city :)

Her wedding to J allowed for me to meet up with one of my best friends, K, and she and I promptly began our giggling and joking and commenting. It was as if we were back in college again. Her poor husband, he had to endure her growling stomach during the ceremony and our minutes of our subsequent stiffled giggles.

Her wedding was a good excuse for me to get re-acquainted with quilting. So, I a made a lap blanket for M & J. Hopefully it will cover their laps and legs as they watch TV or read books.

Doing this size of quilt also gave me quilt-sewing-machine-lust. I had a darn of a time rolling and shoving this baby in the little space my Viking had for me.

Don't tell Greg that though (wink).
